Thank you to everyone that has taken the time to talk with me as I have walked the neighborhoods of Andover, Boxford, North Andover, and Tewksbury to hear your concerns over the past several months.
For those of you who weren’t home, a brief introduction—my name is Jim Lyons, and I am currently serving as your State Representative. Our State Representative district is the 18th Essex includes neighborhoods in Andover, Tewksbury, North Andover, and Boxford.
My wife, Bernadette, and I own a home in Andover, where we live with our two sons. Like many of your children, our boys attended public schools. We are parishioners at Saint Augustine Parish in Andover center and for three decades, we have worked in our family-owned retail business Dandi-Lyons, located right in Tewksbury. That has taught us to appreciate the value of hard work, along with understanding the many challenges of that face small businesses.
We all share the same commitment to building a better tomorrow for our children. I believe we can build this future together in Massachusetts by encouraging education, hard work, job creation, and small business growth.
As your Representative, I want to continue advocating for those values that knit us together in our neighborhoods and communities. We understand the importance of those things that matter most in our lives begin with family and friends, while extending to neighborhood and community. Because of these shared values, I have made Local Aid my top priority. By redirecting precious tax resources away from the bloated Beacon Hill bureaucracy, we can better fund essential services for our towns like police, fire, public safety, first responders, libraries, public works, and education. At the same time, we know that Local Aid helps protect homeowners and restrain property taxes.
These are the everyday services that most touch our families’ lives. This is where our families and our neighbors live; it’s where our values are formed and grow; and it’s where we need to work together to secure that better future we all want for our children.
I pledge to continue to fight for the honest and efficient government that the taxpayers and working families of Andover, Boxford, North Andover, and Tewksbury deserve. Visiting your neighborhood only strengthens my resolve to be your voice for change on Beacon Hill. Special thanks to everyone in your neighborhood for taking a few minutes to talk about our state, our communities, and our families.
I am honored to represent you and all the citizens of the 18th Essex District. I am grateful to you for placing your trust in me. And I hope that you will consider supporting me for State Representative in the November election.
